1. As the cottonwoods along the bosque continue to die, many residents believe that our river is being sacrificed to overdevelopment. Would you actively support legislation requiring the city to manage the Santa Fe Canyon reservoirs so that enough water is released from McClure Dam to guarantee a constant flow in the river?

Rebecca Wurzburger: Yes

Chris Calvert: Yes. This will probably be more feasible when Buckman comes online.

David Coss: No. I believe we can provide for a minimum flow and ensure the health of the bosque in this reach but without defining "constant" flow I can't commit to a yes answer. I support our 40-year plan that allocates 1000 acre feet of water from the dam to help keep the river alive, but we must also better manage our watershed and our use of this precious resource to ensure a healthy Santa Fe River from the Canyon to La Bajada.

2. Many District 1 and 2 residents are concerned with the negative impact infill development is having on our neighborhoods. Would you support legislation to discourage more infill in the historic districts by restricting lot splits and prohibiting timeshares and condominiums?

Wurzburger: Yes

Calvert: Yes

Coss: Yes, absolutely. I have voted for this several times and intend as Mayor to lead the effort to reform our land use codes and control inappropriate infill that is not curbing sprawl or providing affordable housing but is damaging our neighborhoods.

3. Traffic problems in Districts 1 and 2 grow worse every year. Banning large commercial buses and semi-trailer trucks from the Historic Districts would improve the quality of life and provide business opportunities for smaller locally-owned delivery and tour companies. Would you support such a ban?

Wurzburger: Yes.

Calvert: Yes.

Coss: Yes.

4. The air quality in Santa Fe continues to deteriorate. Would you support legislation requiring vehicle emission inspections similar to those currently enforced in Albuquerque?

Wurzburger: Yes

Calvert: Yes, but we might have a legal battle over jurisdiction, with the State.

Coss. Yes. We must acknowledge, however, that dirt roads and wood burning stoves also contribute to the deterioration of our air quality.

5. Many residents have recently complained that the city's ordinance against short- term rentals is not being enforced. Would you take action to ensure that the law currently on the books is not weakened and that it is vigorously enforced?

Wurzburger: Yes

Calvert: Yes

Coss: Yes. I will work to see that all codes are enforced and I will only support changes to our codes if those changes provide for better protection of our neighborhoods.
